Jimmy Voorhees, PT, DPT, is currently teaching courses on physical agents (modalities used in therapy such as ultrasound and electrical stimulation) to physical therapy students at UMDJ this semester. Jimmy has been an instructor at the PT program at UMDNJ for the past seven years.
The Jersey City office has recently added two new pieces of equipment, which will allow improved technological assessment of patients’ strength and balance: the Biodex isokinetic dynamometer and the Biodex BioSway, an electronic device which measures and assists in improving balance.
Strulowitz & Gargiulo Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation participated in the Health Fair at the First Annual Hawk Challenge 5K race at Hudson Catholic High School on Nov. 20.
Physical therapists are currently working with baseball players from local high schools to assist them in off-season strengthening and throwing drills with the intention of preventing injuries once the season arrives.
October was physical therapy month, and this year’s focus was on preventing obesity and utilizing exercise and activity to fight this international epidemic. Carl Gargiulo, PT, DPT, OCS, and Susan Schneider, PT, MSPT, recently completed their teaching duties for the summer ’10 semester at Columbia University Physical Therapy Program in New York City. Both taught and coordinated upper and lower extremity orthopedics for first-year physical therapy students at Columbia.
Strulowitz and Gargiulo Physical Therapy is excited to announce they will soon begin participating in FOTO (Focus On Therapeutic Outcomes), a national database that tracks physical therapy outcomes. Being a part of this database will allow comparisons to other practices throughout the country regarding patient improvement and therapist effectiveness.
